In history I have been learning about Juan Ponce de Leon.[hwahn PON-say day layOWN] Leon means "brave lion." He set out from Spain in search of a new land,Gold,and the fountain of youth. He had heard from the Indians that there was a fountain that cured illness and made people young again. But,he found Florida instead and named it, too.Florida means flowery in Spanish. But he wanted something huge like a kingdom of gold.So he went to explore Florida, only to find Indians who shot poisonous arrows.Sadly, one entered his thigh, and he died.
