Accountability

Today Ezra and I were riding in the van, and I asked him how he could have done better that morning.  Usually the kids' modus operandi is to deny all fault, but Ezra surprised me by listing several things he was sorry for.  I shared with him the oft-repeated principle of accountability: that when we take responsibility for our actions, we are empowered to create our lives the way we want them--otherwise we are victims of the winds of fate.

It was just one little teaching moment with one child.  But I think he may finally have grasped this concept I've been preaching so long.  And that was a satisfying moment.
