Eliza is loving her studies in the Book of Mormon, and today she came to tell me how much she loved reading about Nephi's vision of the tree of life and "a lot of other good stuff." The kids have taken to narration, quite without my asking them to--it's a great technique advocated by Charlotte Mason folks that I've never had the courage to try--but it's wonderful that the kids do it on their own. My favorite part of our conversation was the surprise on her face when I pointed out that the chapter she had read prophesied God's guiding hand to Christopher Columbus, the colonization of America, and the Revolutionary war. We talked about how the Lord needed to create a free land in which the gospel of Jesus Christ could flourish. Eliza wondered why no one else knew this, and I told her it's because they don't read the Book of Mormon. She said, "they're missing out!"
